Simon Elms is one half of a long standing and highly successful composing partnership. With Colin Smith they offer a depth of experience unusual in the music industry. As Creative Directors of and composers at Amber Music they won a string of awards – Clios, D&AD’s, BTA’s and Crafts – and established relationships with a comprehensive base of international clients. Alongside an extensive portfolio of music for commercials, Colin and Simon are credited with string and brass arrangements for The Manic Street Preachers, George Michael, Shape Shifters, Jimmy Somerville and Zero7, often performing in person with the bands.
In March of 2008 they started Eclectic Sounds LTD and within 5 years have established it as one of the most successful music production companies in Europe, winning awards at Cannes 2010 for their work for the Philips short film series. In 2012 they also won a best composition award at the Music & Sound Awards. In July 2013 they were awarded a Gold at the Lions festival for their work on the Prometheus virals. In 2013, they composed a full score for a docu-feature called “The Condemned’ which premiered at the Moscow film festival and has just bought by BBC4, and worked on a series of virals for Ridley Scott’s ‘The Counsellor’.
In January 2013 they established Greek St. Studios, an audio post production company which has already a huge rosta of clients but also won a bronze at Cannes this year for HSBC’s “Serious Play’.
In October 2013 they launched Syncbubble, an online music for film search engine like no other. It has the ability to upload your film and audition 1000’s of highly individual tracks immediately to picture. You can ‘slip’ the sync lining up your tracks perfectly to picture and it also provides a platform where you can share results and ask others to comment – all online. If you like a track you can buy it there and then. The response so far had been incredible.
