Originally from Mexico, Maru is a Multicultural Creative Director with 20+ years of experience in Mexico, LATAM, U.S. Hispanic & General Markets.
Maru first joined Leo Burnett Mexico City as an Art Director working on several P&G brands as well as Kellogg’s, Corona, and Phillip Morris.
In 2002, she moved to Chicago and joined the creative department at Lápiz/Leo Burnett, working with brands such as Disney, McDonald’s, Kellogg’s, Toys ‘R’ Us, Coca-Cola, Chase Bank, P&G, UnitedHealthcare, and Allstate Insurance. Maru was instrumental in helping to bring several other P&G brands to the Lápiz/Leo Burnett portfolio and to win Cannes Lions with work for some of those brands. She had launched holistic and social-first campaigns for Allstate that became Cannes and Effie, winners.
After Leo Burnett, Maru joined FCB Chicago as VP Creative Director for Cox Communications, one of FCB’s largest clients.
Maru’s work has been recognized in various categories at Cannes and at festivals such as D&AD, The One Show, Clio, LIA, The Webby Awards, and in multiple Hispanic award shows. Her work has also been featured in Communication Arts and Lürzers Archive.
She is now part of the We Believers team.
