Joanna Monteiro is founder and partner at -ask. Guiding Creative Thinking- consultancy. Joanna was Chief Creative Officer (CCO) at FCB Brasil for 8 years, at Publicis Canada for 3 years, and co-CCO at Africa Creative DDB for 1 year. Throughout her career, she has won over 200 international awards, including 38 Cannes Lions – among them a Grand Prix in the Mobile category – as well as numerous honors at D&AD, Clio, and One Show. She was named “Woman of the Year” by Advertising Age, “Number 1 Creative Woman in the World” by Business Insider, featured in Ad Age’s “Creativity 50” in 2014, recognized as Woman to Watch in 2015, and awarded the Caboré in 2016. In 2017, she was chosen as the most admired advertising professional in Brazil by agency peers in the Agency Scope survey – the first time a woman reached the top of this ranking. 

Joanna has served as president and jury member at all top-tier international creative festivals. Highlights include Jury President at Cannes, in the Mobile category; at D&AD on two occasions (Direct Jury in 2020 and Integrated & Innovative Jury in 2024); and at the Clio Awards in 2025, in the Digital/Mobile Technique & Social category. She is also a member of the D&AD Advisory Board in the UK and mentors emerging creatives through LIAsons, the global young creatives program of the London International Awards. 

A graduate in Art Education from the University of Brasília (UnB) and holder of a postgraduate degree in Marketing and Advertising from ESPM, Joanna began her career as a copywriting trainee at Ogilvy, worked as a copywriter at DPZ and W/Brasil, and was Creative Director at Africa before leading the creative department at FCB, where she became CCO.
