Juan Carlos Chaves is the current Creative Vice President of DDB Colombia, the most winning Colombian agency in the country last year at Cannes LionsD&ADEffie and El Ojo de Iberoamerica Festival.

He has more than 20 years of experience as copywriter and creative director, and has worked in agencies such as Mullen LoweSancho BBDO and DDB, places where he has won more than 400 awards in major festivals around the world such as CannesLIA, One ShowEffieClioEl Ojo and Fiap.

He is currently part of the creative board of DDB Latina, which has become a permanent place of inspiration for his career, and which this year contributed significantly to DDB being Network of the Year at Cannes Lions for the first time.

Juan is the mommy-daddy of Isabela, a beautiful 23 year old girl. He’s also Bono’s and Deco’s daddy, his dog and cat. He gets up every day at 4:30 am and rides his bike before he goes to work. Juan considers this the best time of the day to think, and sort out ideas.

He’s been fortunate to work for iconic and global brands such as McDonald’sMercedes-BenzUnileverBBVA, PepsiBudweiserCorona, Ab InBev, among others.

He’s a copywriter by trade, and has been leading creative teams for several years that have achieved great results for his clients. He has experience building brands, and creating campaigns that impact culture and society. He’s a creative with strategic thinking, he believes 100% in data, market research and planning to get creative and effective results. He defines himself as a creative-effective, and also as a strategist-creative.
